About The CeC
In the middle of 2006 when some staff from Commission on Information and Communication Technology (CICT) talked to Honorable Leonel C. Guzman for the implementation of Local Government Unit Community E-Center (LGU-CeC) Project. It covers 260 selected municipalities in the country, including Piat. One of the project components is the provision of training to qualified personnel of recipient LGUs.
On October 9-18, 2006, Fatima D. Uanang and I, were sent to undergo training on the operation and maintenance of CeC at the Edupro office located in the 2nd floor of Don Pablo Building, 114 Amorsolo Steet, Legaspi Village, Makati City.
The training was focused on the Basic Computer and Network Concept for the Operation and Maintenance of LGU Community E-Center. After the training, the LGU of Piat immediately prepared the space to house the CeC equipments which was located at Don Sabas Gymnasium, Poblacion 02, Piat, Cagayan.
On November 22, 2006 when CICT delivered four (4) Personal Computer Units with accessories, chairs and tables, Canon MF5750(scanner, copier, fax), EPSON Stylus CX4100 and a digital camera.
Everybody's exited for the establishment of internet in town!
On January 29, 2007, finally, the internet was installed using WeROAM. However, it was unsuccessful -- days and months passed-by -- the connection wasn't properly attended-to, and nobody from CICTdare to fix the problem. Until such time, Mayor Leonel C. Guzman decided to have an internet connection through SMART Wireless Broadband Network.
Finally, on September 18, 2007, the internet was activated. and because of the generosity of the unbeatable Mayor of Piat, he directed me to give one(1) week free internet surfing -- to promote the advantages of the technology.
And now, every interested citizens of Piat are enjoying the internet connections with the a minimal fee of ten pesos (P10.00) an hour.
Community Electronic Center cannot be a business, rather, it is being implemented to share knowledge and skills for the benefit of Piateņos.
"We hope to develop a competitive and technology driven youth of our town", says Mayor Nel.
Our principal responsibilities, being part of this LGU-CeC, is to develop and further train the populace of our beloved town so that they shall abreast the ever-changing world of Information Age.
In fact, one of the priority project of our unbeatable mayor, Hon. L.C. Guzman is the Barangay Computerization
Project. As his personal-project, together with Mr. DSCaluya and Mr. B. Guzman, who conducts Free Seminar Workshop in
